Hot water problem in North shore
“Di, there’s no hot water at home. Can you please ask someone to fix it for us? Please?”
Diane was tired of hearing this complaint over and over again. This was the third time this month. Her tenants had started complaining after the new water heater had been fixed. She had called the plumber who had fixed the water heater to come and check it out. Accordingly, he had changed the cartridges in the sink and the shower, claiming that the problem was not with the heater. He had even replaced the mixing valves. But the problem persisted.
The plumber claimed that there could not be a problem with the water heater because he could drain hot water from the bottom of the heater. Also, the pipe leading out of the heater at the very top was very hot. That showed that the heater was working.
Now, she called the old plumber again. But he refused to come and check out the hot water problem saying that they had done everything they could and that they would not touch the heater to check if something was wrong within the heater. They claimed that this would void the guarantee on the heater. Talk about getting caught between a hard place and a rock!
Now, it seemed like there was only one way out. Call a hot water plumber who actually knew some plumbing and get them to fix the hot water service problem.
Where would she get such a plumber? She had little idea about these things as her son used to take care of all these problems. But, he had gone to the Himalayas for a month and was mostly out of reach. Her tenants were getting impatient, having gone for two weeks without hot water. She needed to do something quick.
So, being a software programmer, her first instinct whenever problem struck was to ‘Google’ it. So, she thought, why not let Google help her find a plumber?
And that’s exactly what she did. She searched for a plumber in the North shore of Syndey, including Chatswood, North Syndey, Lower North Shore, turramurra, Crows Nest and Pymble and she came up with a few names. One name stood out because they serviced clients in all of these locations! And they seemed to have a fantastic reputation too.
Without wasting any more time, she called the North shore plumber and explained her hot waterproblem. The plumber promised to come by that very afternoon. He assured her that he would have the problem sorted out before evening. That gave her some relief.
As promised, the North shore plumber came to take a look at her hot water heater problem. he worked on it for twenty minutes.
“Seems like there is a problem with the valve system in the hot water system,” he informed her.
To Diane, that sounded like Greek but she was happy to leave it to the plumber so long as he could fix the problem and give her some peace of mind.
In another half hour, the emergency plumber had restored her hot water service. There was hot water in all the pipes. Half an hour is all it took. Correction. A good plumber was all it took, she thought to herself. The next time she had a plumbing problem, she wouldn’t waste her time or money on nitwits!
